Sarah Barrell bio

Former travel editor at the Independent on Sunday, Sarah currently works as Associate Editor for National Geographic Traveller (UK) and BBC Good Food magazine, and writes freelance for a wide range of titles including The Independent, The Telegraph and Evening Standard. She’s the author of several Lonely Planet books including the food-focused From the Source: Italy. Like many travel writers, she has little sense of direction but an insatiable need to be “somewhere else”. She has lived in Australia, Greece, and New York where her daughter was born, and is currently based in North London.
