Former Manchester Central MP and Greater Manchester Police Commissioner Tony Lloyd has been confirmed as Labour's candidate in Rochdale.

I exclusively broke the news that Tony Lloyd was the front runner.

Katy Clark, Jeremy Corbyn's Political Secretary, pulled out of the selection as it became clear that once again opponents of Jeremy Corbyn had ensured the selection panel was unfriendly to her.

Labour's only remaining selection is now in Liverpool Walton, after Steve Rotheram decided to stand down after all. Dan Carden, Len McCluskey's assistant, is the front runner and likely to win the seat. Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson, Theresa Griffin MEP and local Councillor Dan Hughes are also candidates.
