Paula Sherriff was elected Labour MP for Dewsbury and Mirfield in 2015 following a career in public service, most recently in the NHS and previously with the police, where she was commended for her work with victims of crime. An active trade unionist, she is a member of the GMB and TSSA unions and served as a Labour councillor. As an MP, she was elected to the Health Select Committee and as Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Women’s Health. Known for running high profile campaigns on issues such as the ‘tampon tax’ and big business practices, she recently became the first back bench MP to successful amend a government Budget Resolution.
