Mary Brett is a retired biology teacher. She taught in a co-educational comprehensive school in Glasgow for 5 years, then in an English Grammar school (selective) for boys for over 30 years where she was in charge of Health Education.

 

She has campaigned against cannabis for well over 25 years and is now Chair of the drug prevention charity, CanSS (Cannabis Skunk Sense): www.cannabisskunsense.co.uk.

 

CanSS provides the admin for the APPG (All Party Parliamentary Group) on Cannabis: Harmful effects on developing brains in the House of Commons under the chairmanship of Craig Mackinlay MP. Meetings are held in the House two or three times a year. She is also a member of WFAD (World Forum Against Drugs) and an ex Vice President of Eurad.

Keith Stroup, an American pot-using lawyer and founder of NORML (National Organisation for Reform of Marijuana Laws) in 1979 said to his Emory University audience, “We will use the medical marijuana argument as a red herring on the road to full legalisation”. His successor, Richie Cowan said at a 1993 LSD Conference, “Medical marijuana is our strongest suit. It is our point of leverage which will move us towards the legalisation of marijuana for personal use”.
